Down, but not out!

Morning Blogland!
well, had a horrible day yesterday, but last night, i was really in the dumps, feeling miserable!
but today, is another day, and i feel better today!
yesterday, i was diagnosed as having Diabetics type 2, high blood pressure, (as well as i already have Asthma, and arthritis(my knees & wrists kill me)all self inflicted, by not looking after myself! and i have to lose 21/2 stone  in weight in the next 6 months (i have more to lose, but thats the start!) they have recommended i go on the GI diet! so, will have to get some books, (as internet, don`t give enough ideas, and a full GI index in foods!)
and then if that was`nt enough punishment for the day, last night, my local Tesco`s was having a Recruitment Drive, so, i duely turned upat 5.45, filled in the forms, and waited to be called, (there was about 50 people waiting,) the more people that arrived, the more i thought! no chance! they were all under 20, except about 3 of us! lol boy, did`nt i feel old! they eventually called my name after an hour, and took me out of the room, to tell me, sorry, you have`nt made the interview, but we will keep, your information, for future ref! yeah, right!
so, i went home, on the scrapheap!! lol
that was my day!! lol
but today, is a new day! and i`m not going to be beaten! (might be a bit bruised! lol) i will see if i can do some more to finish my Tutorial, as i bought some more batteries for my camera yesterday! (the highlight of my day! lol) so, it works again! yeah!! lol
hope i have`nt depressed you too much, i am going to watch some american crafting on Create&craft now! and cheer myself up!
have a lovely day,
love angie xx

  2. What a horrible day you had. I know about feeling old, I've just had all my teeth out which isnt fun...

You'll have to get everyone to sponsor you with the weight thing and reward you for every so much lost - more craft stash would do the job nicely!

    Hope you feel better soon.

If it helsp to know, I have just lost 4 stones on the Slimming World programme and after three weeks on it my body began to adjust and I was able to stop the 12 tablets a day I was taking for chronic colitus and haven't taken them since.. Not saying this is necessarily for you, butr the diet was easey and I ate so much more than usual!!!!! including curries chinese italian and loads of pata. Look it up when you have a mo. it might help.

  4. whenb i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 3 years ago i was also told to try the low gi diet and it's pretty easy - just switch to wholegrain foods and cut down on starchy foods like bread and potatoes.
new potatoes and sweet potatoes are ok (if you like them) and i still eat rice but less of it. i find the warbutons seeded batch loaf the best one but hovis do a nice one too. don't each much pasta tho cos i don't think that's too good but occasionally i'll make a lasagne.
just keep an eye on packaging and check to see what the carb content is rather than just the sugar content.

tescos used to do a pocket gi guide just to give you an idea of those foods that are low, medium and high gi. beware drinks that are high in sugars, esp soft drinks and fruit juices!
